12:46 am - Minor placeholder.
I'm back.

I'll talk about my last trip later. Right now, I'm exhausted.

Oh, and [info]dkellis? Come end of November, you will die. Slowly, painfully, and with great attention to every exquisite detail.

12:01 am - HP Fic Snippet.
While this is in no way set in stone, the basic concept is unlikely to change. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Probably only a few people will get this, but what the heck.

Meeting an old acquaintance. )

Won't she be surprised.

Very rough draft, featuring Dell and his roommate. [info]dkellis was kind of insistent on this.

11:30 pm - Ninjas vs. Pirates.
[info]jeria See, pirates do everything in your face, right in the open, while ninjas have to skulk around in the shadows. You know where you stand, with pirates.
[info]dkellis This is a good thing?

[info]jeria Cut off a ninja's hand, and he's useless. Cut off a pirate's hand, cut off his leg, put out his eye, and he just becomes that much more badass.

[info]jeria Pirates have way more style than ninjas.
[info]dkellis I fail to see how anyone can top ninja black.
[info]jeria It takes a special kind of person to wear bright colours, frilly shirts, big feather hats, and tight pants, and still look swashbuckling.

[info]dkellis See, all pirates know how to say is "Aarr" and "yo ho ho". And "Arrr".
[info]jeria So?
[info]dkellis Clearly we are dealing with a species derived from Pokemon. Or suffering from extreme mental illness.
[info]jeria ... I'd like to point out that ninjas don't talk. At all.
[info]dkellis Well, it is said that silence is golden.

[info]jeria I'd like to see a ninja stand up to a 120-cannonball barrage.

[info]dkellis See, if you want to include Ryoko and the Nebuchadnezzar crew and suchlike as "pirates", then I reserve the right to encompass all assassins, secret agents, spies, and generally stealthy types as "ninjas". In other words, we own James Bond.

[info]dkellis You do realize that we're just discussing the popular notions of pirates and ninjas as opposed to their real world counterparts?
[info]jeria People do it all the time, don't they?

[info]jeria Ninja pirates?
[info]dkellis You know. The ones that go "Aarrr desu." Not to mention "yo ho ho and a bottle o' sake."

[info]dkellis Say what you like, I still think that both pirates and ninjas lose to wandering technomages.
[info]jeria You've been hanging around Static too much.
[info]dkellis Guilty as charged.

11:06 pm - Fic snippet.
After watching X-Men 2, apparently [info]dkellis is feeling guilty enough to resurrect one of his long-abandoned fics.

Him being who he is, of course, he just had to attempt a rewrite.

In which a Dramatic Event is neatly obscured by semantics. )

While creativity is good, I fail to see how he can possibly have the time to do yet another project.

7:26 pm - Fic quote.
Taken from "Amazing Magical Girl Ruby Moon" by CardCaptor Schlueter.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world in a dark ominous boardroom in some cold impersonal skyscraper, a meeting of the most feared and evil beings in the universe was about to take place.

And we're not talking about the Republican party, here.

No, we are talking about a plague that has destroyed more fanfics than can be counted, The Mary Sues.

The Mary Sues were a more powerful for of the species known as
Authorus Creatati Characturus, or Author Created Characters. While the ACCs were always annoyingly perfect, the Mary Sues took it a level beyond, manifesting God-like abilities. It was because of this that most canon anime characters hated them so much. They just didn't always express those feelings since enemies of the Mary Sue have a tendency to "disappear".

Somehow I find this amusing.

2:25 am
Worlds grow old and suns grow cold
And death we never can doubt.
Time's cold wind, wailing down the past,
Reminds us that all flesh is grass
And history's lamps blow out.

But the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.

Cycles turn while the far stars burn,
And people and planets age.
Life's crown passes to younger lands,
Time brushes dust of hope from his hands
And turns another page.

But the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.

But we who feel the weight of the wheel
When winter falls over our world
Can hope for tomorrow and raise our eyes
To a silver moon in the open skies
and a single flag unfurled.

But the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.

We know well what Life can tell:
If you would not perish, then grow.
And today our fragile flesh and steel
Have laid their hands on a vaster wheel
With all of the stars to know

That the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.

From all who tried out of history's tide,
Salute for the team that won.
And the old Earth smiles at her children's reach,
The wave that carried us up the beach
To reach for the shining sun.

For the Eagle has landed; tell your children when.
Time won't drive us down to dust again.
